A Florida man, Chaculvin Hayes, has been sentenced to 16 months in federal prison for his role in a $600,000 airline scam. Hayes, a GAT Airline Ground Support employee, used his access to upgrade passengers to first class and change flight reservations without collecting fees, then sold discounted tickets online. He also issued unauthorized travel credits and vouchers. The scam ran from 2017 to 2019 and Hayes was ordered to pay $602,886.18 in restitution. This is a shocking example of how insider threats can compromise even the most secure systems.
